What you need to know

Take residual waste to an underground rubbish container in your area. Open the container using the waste disposal pass.

  • Place your waste disposal pass on the display. You will hear a click. You can then open the cover. Close the cover after you have placed the rubbish bag in the container.
  • If the container won't open, or if it is full or blocked, take the rubbish to the other underground container on your pass, or take your rubbish home with you.
  • The underground rubbish containers are emptied at least once a week.
  • Bulky waste or bags that are too large will get stuck and will block the container. Take this rubbish to the waste recycling centre, or register arrange for this bulky waste to be collected.

Do not deposit any rubble or building and demolition waste in the underground rubbish container.

There are no underground rubbish containers in the suburbs. Households in the suburbs have a grey container for non-recyclable waste.
