Extract from the civil registry
General
A life event, such as a birth, marriage, death or divorce, is recorded in a deed by the council where the event took place. This deed remains with that council. You can order a copy of the deed if the event took place in the district of Breda. The extract is dealt with and sent by post within 7 working days. Remember that delivery by post can take longer.

What you need to know
An extract from the civil registry is NOT an Extract from the personal records database. That is a statement by the council that you are living in Breda.
If the event took place in a district other than Breda, request the extract from that other district.
You can order the following extracts from the civil registry:
- birth certificate of you and your children
- marriage certificate of you and your partner
- partnership certificate of you and your partner
- divorce certificate of you and your partner
- certificate of termination of registered partnership of you and your partner
- death certificate of your partner, child and parents
