Moving to Breda from abroad, resettlement

If you are moving to Breda from abroad, or if you plan to remain in the Netherlands for at least 4 of the next 6 months and this is not the first time you have lived in the Netherlands, you must register with Breda council in person within 5 days of your arrival. To register your partner and/or children, they must come with you. Arrange an appointment beforehand.
What you need to know
- Documents in languages other than English, German or French must be translated to Dutch by a sworn interpreter/translator.
- Depending on the country of issue, the documents must meet the authentication regulations.
- The documents may not be older than 3 years.
You will need the following
- To register in Breda, you need original documents about you and your children from your home country. For example, birth certificate, marriage certificate or divorce certificate. If you are resettling in the Netherlands, you do not need to bring these documents if they have already been logged in the Netherlands.
- A valid travel document for every person to be registered.
- Proof of de-registration if travelling from Aruba, Bonaire, Curacao, St. Maarten, Saba, Sint Eustatius.
- A rental or purchase contract for your home or approval from the main resident you live with.
