Moving abroad
General
If you move abroad for a long period of time (at least 8 months of a year) or if you emigrate, you need to tell the local council. Tell us about this no more than 1 month before you move abroad.

Who can notify the council of a change of address?
- anyone aged 16 years or older
- spouses or registered partners and adult children if they move together from the same address to another country
- parent, guardian or carer of minors moving abroad with themone of the parents if the entire family moves from the same address to another country
- an adult child who is authorised in writing by the person moving
As things are so busy at the moment, appointments are only available in the very near future. Calling the council will give you the same options as the form on this page. If other people cancel an appointment, a time slot could become available. Please check this page regularly.
