Hosting refugees in private homes
Here you will find information about hosting.
Host refugees yourself
Would you like to host refugees in your own home? If so, please contact www.vluchtelingenwerk.nl (Dutch). Takecarebnb can assist you if you wish to open your home to Ukrainian refugees.
Practical information for private individuals about hosting refugees
Detailed information for anyone wishing to host or already hosting Ukrainian refugees can be found at Rijksoverheid.nl.
In Breda, from 7 September onwards, host families can attend the walk-in session held by VluchtelingenWerk (Dutch Council for Refugees) on Wednesday afternoons from 14:00 - 16:00 hours at De Herberg Foundation, Haagweg 3 in Breda. Here you can ask questions about the right of residence, family reunification, items that you may need, facilities in Breda and language lessons.
Practical information for refugees
VluchtelingenWerk Nederland provides a practical and up-to-date platform for refugees (also in English, Ukrainian and Russian).
Have you already taken in refugees? They must register in the Personal Records Database (BRP) of the local council. They can make an appointment to register at the Breda council. If refugees decide to return to Ukraine, they must de-register.

To obtain this certificate, you must first register in the Personal Records Database (BPR). Make an appointment with the council where you live to register.
By 1 November at the latest, a Residence Certificate is needed by refugees who wish to work
By 1 November at the latest you need a Residence Certificate to work in the Netherlands. You can make an appointment until 1 november 2022 to get a Residence Certificate.
Make an appointment
Every refugee registered in the BPR and covered by the temporary protection regulation will receive a legal certificate from the IND. Make an appointment at a location in the indicated region. The IND will try to ensure that all refugees receive a legal certificate before 1 September.
No appointments can be made in Breda. Make an appointment online at refugeehelp.nl (Dutch). Information for refugees is available here in other languages too (English, Russian and Ukrainian).
Refugees and Corona
Vaccinations
All refugees from Ukraine are entitled to COVID-19 vaccinations. They can go to walk-in sessions or make an appointment at the Municipal Public Health Service (GGD).
Measures at home
There are currently no specific guidelines for COVID-19. Therefore the same advice applies to people hosting Ukrainians in their homes. The basic advice is: Wash hands, cough and sneeze into your elbow, remain at home if you have symptoms and test for coronavirus, let fresh air into the home and keep updated with vaccinations, boosters or repeat vaccinations.
